AVTEC INDUSTRIES INTRODUCES COMBINED FIRE- AND CORROSION-RESISTANT COATING

June 16, 2002 - Avtec Industries just introduced an aqueous based, ceramic/graphite fire retardant surface coating that also tests well for corrosion resistance. The new low FST coating, called ECO-FLEX C/G™, is intended to provide protection on a wide variety of substrates and surfaces against open flame and radiant heat, including composites and metals.

In addition to passing the ASTM E-119 protocol for time and temperature (a 47-mil thick coating achieved 90 minutes), the non-intumescent ECO-FLEX C/G™ material, based on Avtec's patented core technology, is said to be an excellent corrosion resistant and sealant coating compared with epoxy or zinc chromate coatings, based on accelerated testing.
